St Patrick's Day

Newport's St Patty Day celebrations continue throughout the month. Last night was another great night in Newport. Bars and pubs were busting from the seams as hundreds of bar crawling Irish in green shirts paraded through town.

This is once again another perfect reason to stay with us. I don't know how anyone staying on any of the major streets go any sleep last night. The shouting and ruckus was unbearable. Stay at the quiet neighborhoods of Architects Inn or Inn Bliss, where you can walk to the fun but leave it when you are done.

NEWPORT, R.I. – Have you ever noticed Newport is surrounded by green? Sure, we’re on an island encapsulated by the blue of the ocean, but driving around this fine St. Patrick’s Day morning while delivering this week’s edition of Newport This Week, it was hard not to see green… Everywhere.

From the trim on countless historic buildings, to the awnings of the Travers Block; even the patina of the copper entry way to Ida Lewis, I couldn’t stop seeing green.
